So, before we planned the Islamorada part of our vacation, Bryce had been saving up to take his Freediving Level 2 certification. He really wanted to take it from the instructor in Ft. Lauderdale, so we decided to turn it into a family trip. I found really cheap flights, and a decently priced hotel room, and we decided to go for it! Bryce was going to be gone 8am-7pm taking the course for 4 days straight, but I figured it would be some good time with just me and the boys since I never get to do the fun things. What was I thinking? Haha. Just kidding. Sort of. The beach was a hit, for about 30 minutes. They were not a fan of the waves (which were nonexistent in Islamorada) or the rough sand. After I tried to remedy the situation with $35 worth of resort beach toys (and failed), we ended up spending ALL DAY, EVERY DAY at the hotel pool. Ok, we tried to get out a little bit after I decided to drop Bryce off at his course. We went to the park one afternoon, the train station, and the Museum of Discovery and Science too. But, 90% of the day was spent at the pool. At least I got some fun practice with my new Dicapac waterproof DSLR case!
Parker has really mastered some swimming skills this summer. Working on the back float, but mastered the 4ft dive underwater to grab his squid and can swim some decent distances for 3.5 years old. Connor really wants to swim, and is fearless. He also enjoys being a seal in shallow water. But now, it’s Emma watch. Enjoy!
